The straw market in Nassau can be reached by surface taxi or water taxi. The water taxi is a true Bahamian experience that leaves from the dock just below the Paradise Island bridge and arrives at the straw market. This open-air market functions much like an American flea market and bartering is a must. Negotiate until you get your best deal on a multitude of different items, including such things as beach towels, wicker baskets, clothing, etc., etc. There are also other shopping experiences like the mall at Atlantic Club, The Paradise Plaza or Hurricane Hole Plaza. Bay Street is the heart of the shopping district.
